Chinese vice president meets ASEAN leaders attending 22nd China-ASEAN Expo

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on September 16 met with leaders from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, who were in Nanning, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to attend the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
When meeting with Prime Minister of Myanmar U Nyo Saw, Han said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and not long ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Min Aung Hlaing, acting president of Myanmar, and reached important consensus.
China is willing to work with Myanmar to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders and deepen the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, Han said. He noted that China supports Myanmar in maintaining national stability, sovereignty and independence, and steadily advancing its domestic political agenda.
From Zhejiang to Yangon, Wu Opera celebrates 75 years of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties

The National Theatre of Yangon came alive over the weekend, its grand hall brimming with color, music, and applause as audiences experienced Wu Opera, a centuries-old art form from China’s Zhejiang Province. The performance was staged to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations.
More than 2,000 people attended the event on September 20 and 21. For many in the audience, it was their first time experiencing Wu Opera. Among them was Lwin Phyo Hein, a second-year student at the National University of Arts and Culture in Yangon. He said the opera’s acrobatic flips left a strong impression.
“Costumes are excellent. I recommend it to my friends,” he said, saying that cultural exchanges allow countries to share traditions and build stronger connections.
China-Malaysia ‘Air Silk Road’ partnership strengthens regional integration

Efforts to integrate China and countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have received a boost through a strategic air cargo partnership between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO).
The partnership is designed to expand cargo connectivity across Asia, positioning KLIA and CGO as leading regional hubs while creating new opportunities to accelerate regional economic growth under the Belt and Road Initiative’s “Air Silk Road,” participants at the Zhengzhou-Kuala Lumpur "Air Silk Road" Forum for International Cooperation said on September 18.
In his keynote speech at the forum, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook explained that linking Zhengzhou, one of central China’s fastest-growing logistics centers, with KLIA, a gateway to ASEAN, will unlock opportunities in high-value sectors such as e-commerce, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and fresh produce.
Vietnam’s coconut farmers thrive with growing export to China

With the rumble of coconut processing machinery echoing across Vietnam’s southern countryside, coconut farmers and exporters in Vinh Long province are celebrating a long-awaited economic breakthrough as fresh coconuts have been officially exported to China.
In August 2024, China and Vietnam signed a protocol for exporting fresh Vietnamese coconuts to China, marking the first time the fresh fruit has been officially licensed to enter the Chinese market. According to statistics from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the country has over 200,000 hectares of coconut cultivation, with an annual yield of approximately 2.28 million tons. With stable protocols and streamlined logistics, especially via rail and cross-border agreements, Vietnamese farmers and exporters are now optimistic about exporting coconuts to the Chinese market.
